Why NUTT
We love fashion with style – and a clean, fair world. But there's still a lot going wrong.
In the Netherlands, we throw away around 300 million kilos of textiles every year. That’s an average of 46 new clothing items per person – and we get rid of 40 of them again. More than half of that textile waste ends up being incinerated. Meanwhile, deserts in Chile and beaches in Ghana are overflowing with our discarded clothes, often of shockingly low quality.
And not everything we return after an online purchase makes it back into the store. Many returns go straight into general waste – and straight into the incinerator. Of the 21.5 million unsold garments in the Netherlands, nearly 3% are destroyed.
And things are only getting worse. Experts predict that by 2050, our clothing consumption will have quadrupled. That means: even more production, waste, and pollution.
But it doesn't have to be this way. And we believe it must change.
NUTT exists because we consume so much. And we think things can be done differently.
That’s why NUTT.
We make beauty visible – because we don’t see waste, we see valuable resources. And we do this with conviction, passion, and craftsmanship. Every piece is unique – no two are the same. NUTT blazers are created from high-quality, carefully selected second-hand clothing. As long as the fashion industry isn’t 100% circular, NUTT will exist.
Donate Your Clothing
We also create new, unique recycled NUTTs from your donated clothes. You’re happy, we’re happy – because together, we’re helping to clean up the world, one step at a time. We do it with purpose, and we do it together.
